After attending Accountex conference in London yesterday, I thought I would share some of the key takeaways I gathered from the talk on personal branding.
Personal branding is important for all fee earners.
Regardless of your role in the accounting firm, personal branding is crucial. It’s important to establish a brand that represents your values and expertise in the industry. Your personal brand should also align with the brand of your accounting firm.
Be true to yourself when speaking to your audience.
When creating content or presenting to clients, it’s important to be authentic and true to yourself. Your clients will appreciate your honesty and transparency. By staying true to yourself, you’ll build trust with your clients and create a strong personal brand.
Content should always be compliant.
As an accountant, it’s important to ensure that all content is compliant with industry standards. If you’re unsure, it’s always best to seek approval from the likes of HMRC or ICAEW. Compliance is key in the accounting industry, and non-compliant content can damage your personal brand and the reputation of your accounting firm.
Consistency is key.
Consistency is important when it comes to personal branding. Your brand should be consistent across all platforms, including social media, email, and presentations. By maintaining consistency, you’ll create a strong personal brand that resonates with your clients.
People like a story.
Clients are more likely to engage with your personal brand if you have a story to tell. People like to see growth and failures and how that has impacted your business. By sharing your story, you’ll create a deeper connection with your clients and build a stronger personal brand.
Viral can be negative.
Going viral may seem like a good thing, but it’s important to remember that viral content may not reach your target audience. Instead of focusing on going viral, focus on creating content that resonates with your target audience. You’re more likely to convert loyal and right-fit clients if you’re being honest and true to yourself from the outset.
In conclusion, attending the Accountex conference in London was a great opportunity to learn about the importance of personal branding in the accounting industry. By establishing a strong personal brand, staying true to yourself, and creating compliant content, you’ll build trust with your clients and create a deeper connection. Remember, consistency is key, and your personal brand should be a reflection of your values and expertise in the industry.
