Plus Charity Football Cup 2024: DMH Stallard Defeats Plus Accounting to Retain Title!

For the second consecutive year, DMH Stallard beat Plus Accounting in a closely contested final to retain the Plus Charity Football Cup.

Plus Charity Football Cup

In a Halloween special, ten companies came together to take part in our 5-a-side football tournament with all proceeds going to The Clock Tower Sanctuary to support them in providing practical facilities, access to activities and professional support to 16-25 year olds who are homeless or insecurely housed.

The ten teams were divided into two groups of five. After each team had competed against the other teams in their group, the top two from each group progressed to the ‘Winners Semi Finals’, while the bottom three from each group entered the “Wooden Spoon” bracket.

Here’s how an enjoyable afternoon unfolded at Dorothy Stringer School!

Group A (Plus Accounting, Education Cubed, Quality Care Group, Quantuma, Seed)

Quantuma claimed top spot with a flawless record, winning all 4 of their games. Joining them in the semi-finals was Plus Accounting, who bounced back from a 5-1 loss in their opening match by going unbeaten in the next three games, including a decisive victory over Seed. This left Education Cubed and Quality Care Group to compete in the Wooden Spoon qualifiers.

Plus Accounting results;

Education Cubed defeated Acumen Business Law 4-1 whilst Jonathan Lea Network advanced by beating Quality Care Group in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw. Both teams went on to lose their respective semi-finals, leading to a showdown in the Wooden Spoon Final between Seed and Carpenter Box. This time, Seed were unable to walk away with the Wooden Spoon with Carpenter Box the winners.

Semi Finals

For the second consecutive year, both runners-up came out on top in their semi-finals, eliminating the group winners.

In the first semi-final, DMH Stallard handed Quantuma their first loss with a 3-1 victory. The other semi-final mirrored this outcome, with the other group winners also losing for the first time in tournament at the hands of Plus Accounting.
